🜁 Mapping the Invisible:
A Personal Journey Through the 7 Hermetic Principles
I’ve been sitting with the ache lately—the kind that hums quietly beneath the surface, asking questions without offering answers. It’s the kind that’s less about being lost and more about being in process, unfolding. And somewhere in that unfolding, the 7 Hermetic Principles appeared—not as a solution, but as a language. A framework for making sense of both chaos and creation.
If you’re unfamiliar with Hermeticism, it’s a philosophical system rooted in ancient Egypt and attributed to Hermes Trismegistus. Its principles speak to the architecture of existence—not in literal terms, but through metaphor, rhythm, and intuition. I’m not here to preach dogma. I’m here to explore what happens when you hold a mirror up to the abstract and ask, What do I see? Sometimes it’s clarity. Sometimes it’s friction. But it’s always something worth noticing.
1. Mentalism – The All is Mind.
I keep coming back to this one. The idea that reality begins in the mental realm makes me rethink how I frame my creativity. Every stream I plan, every blog I write, every caption I throw into the digital void—they all start as an internal pulse. Reality isn’t built with bricks—it’s built with intention. And when I honor my thoughts as seeds, not just static noise, I can start to shape the garden I’m living in. Even a moment of quiet visualization before going live can tilt the mood from “performing” to “being.”
2. Correspondence – As above, so below; as within, so without.
There’s a strange poetry in this. The way my Discord community mirrors the energy I put into it. The way my own inner dialogue shapes how I interpret a chaotic match of Call of Duty. Nothing exists in isolation—it’s all layered, echoing, woven together. Lately, I’ve noticed that the more grace I give myself internally, the more compassion flows outward into how I engage online. It’s a pattern, not a coincidence. Correspondence calls us to see how our microcosm shapes the macro—and vice versa.
3. Vibration – Nothing rests; everything moves.
Even on my lowest energy days, there’s motion. Not always visible, but present. Ideas gestate. Feelings stir. The creative process vibrates between rest and eruption. Streaming a cozy game like Dreamlight Valley has its own wavelength—restorative and rhythmic, like a heartbeat slowing to sync with peace. And when I switch to something chaotic or competitive, I feel the frequency shift. It’s like tuning a dial—life moves in vibration, and we choose the bandwidth we dance on.
4. Polarity – Everything is dual; opposites are the same in nature.
I love this one. It reminds me that discomfort isn’t the enemy of joy—it’s a distant cousin. Editing a chaotic clip with humor isn’t just me deflecting; it’s me alchemizing polarity into perspective. Everything contains its opposite—it’s just a matter of degree. Fear becomes excitement with a little tilt. Frustration turns to fuel when reframed. Even the best gaming moments usually start with a mess I nearly didn’t escape. That dance of duality keeps me creatively alert—and spiritually grounded.
5. Rhythm – Everything flows in and out; rises and falls.
Streaming has taught me this in real time. Viewer counts. Follower engagement. Creative energy. It all moves in cycles. There’s no permanence, only phases. And maybe that’s okay. Maybe rhythm is less about control and more about learning how to surf without drowning. On days where everything feels flat, I remind myself: this is a trough, not a failure. High tides return. Creativity doesn’t run dry—it just rests and regathers. Honoring rhythm means becoming fluent in ebb and flow.
6. Cause and Effect – Every cause has its effect; every effect has its cause.
Sometimes I think about all the tiny decisions that led to this blog. The whispers I followed. The moments I almost didn’t show up but did anyway. There’s a chain reaction to presence. You might not see the full arc yet, but you feel the tremors. Every DM replied, every caption shared, every story told—it ripples outward. Even when something doesn’t “land,” there’s still impact. Cause and effect reminds me that creation is never neutral. Intention doesn’t just shape results—it becomes them.
7. Gender – Masculine and feminine energies exist in all things.
Not about literal gender—more about creation and reception. Logic and intuition. Action and contemplation. My blog lives in this space, too. I write with structure but leave room for fluidity. I stream with strategy but embrace surprise. It’s the dance between doing and becoming. Understanding energetic gender isn’t about binaries—it’s about balance. Some days I lead. Some days I listen. Some days I push forward with clarity. Other days I fall back into softness and let the muse do the talking.
I didn’t write this to explain Hermeticism. I wrote it to sit with it. To sketch the contours of thought and creativity through a lens that feels both ancient and personal. Maybe these principles are less about knowing—and more about noticing. More about living into questions and finding patterns worth naming.
If any of this resonates, I’d love to hear how these ideas shape the way you show up in the world. 🜂
